A large snake on the loose had residents in a rural area of Warren County on edge in recent days.
They are breathing a big sigh of relief now.
A resident shot the snake, which was measured at 14 feet, 7 inches and weighing well over 100 pounds, in the early-morning hours Monday.
Dogs and chickens in the neighborhood had vanished in recent days. Residents say they either got scared and ran off, or might have been eaten by the snake, believed to be a Burmese Python.
The residents living in the area where the snake was located, off Highway Y, believe the snake got too big for its owner and it was dumped.
