Lady Eagles win third straight

Liberty Christian has started the season strong as they look to defend their Missouri Christian Schools Athletic Association title.
The Lady Eagles (3-0) have not dropped a set in their first three matches this season. They began the season with three-set wins over Providence Classical Christian Academy and Christian Fellowship. They beat Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis in three sets Tuesday. They won the sets 25-4, 25-6, 25-3.
“I like where we’re at,” Liberty Christian volleyball coach Bill Ball said. “Right now, we just need to play competitive games. Allow exposure and allow us to make mistakes so we can start correcting them before it gets to MAC (Metro Athletic Conference) and state. But our seniors are getting more towards midseason form and we’re doing the things we should be doing. Communication’s getting better every game. I think we’re on track to get back to where we need to go.”
The Lady Eagles are led by seniors Kylee Ball, Alli Meyer and Anna Meyer. All three seniors are back from last year’s team that repeated as state champions. All three seniors were leaders on last year’s team.
“Our three seniors this year were leaders last year as well,” Ball said. “So it was pretty simultaneous. They really didn’t miss a beat on that part of it.”
Ball has seen early progress from several newcomers in the early portion of this season. He thinks the Lady Eagles are in a good spot as they look to defend their state title.
“I think I’ve seen enough to see the pattern that we’re on,” Ball said. “I’ve coached long enough to know where I feel like our trajectory will be barring injury. But yeah, I really think as long as we continue to gel that come MAC, we’ll be ready. But we’ve got to play.”
Liberty Christian is scheduled to host Thomas Jefferson School Friday. The match is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
