Another day, another two-hit shutout for the Washington Post 218 Senior Legion team.Hosting Pacific Saturday at Rotary Recreational Complex - Ronsick Field, Post 218 shut out Pacific, 18-0, in five innings.“We again jumped out to a big early lead, giving us an opportunity to get everyone in the game,” Post 218 Manager Mike Gardner said.Washington (7-2, 3-0) received a combined shutout from Zach Marquart and Spencer Hunter.Marquart pitched the first four innings, allowing both hits. He walked two, hit one batter and struck out five.“Zach Marquart was able to get some much needed work on the mound and we were able to stretch him out a bit,” Gardner said.Spencer Hunter pitched the fifth, allowing a walk and striking out one.Offensively, Post 218 scored all of the runs it needed in the bottom of the first, putting nine on the board.Washington added five runs in the third and four in the fourth.Pacific didn’t get much help from its defense. Post 402 committed all six errors in the game.Matt Albers got the ball for Pacific and went 2.1 innings while taking the loss. He allowed 10 runs (four earned) on seven hits, four walks and a hit batter. He struck out two.Tim Loeffel finished out the game, throwing 1.2 innings, allowing eight runs (three earned) on eight hits and two walks. He struck out one.The game ended after five innings and a second scheduled game didn’t take place due to Pacific’s pitching shortage.Post 218 batters rapped out 15 hits and added six walks and one hit batter. Four reached on errors.Teddy Meyer had three hits, including a double.Justin Heggemann, Logan Gratza, Kyle Tuepker and Quinton Poepsel each had two hits. Heggemann tripled. Poepsel and Tuepker each doubled.Hunter Mehler, Ryan Lohrer, Jake Jinkerson and Matt McGilvray each added one hit.Tuepker walked twice. Gratza, Lohrer, Meyer and McGilvray walked once.Gratza was hit by a pitch. Heggemann and Poepsel stole bases.Gratza scored four runs. Tuepker crossed the plate three times. Heggemann, Tommy Ruether and Lohrer each scored twice. Poepsel, Mehler, Jinkerson, Meyer and McGilvray each scored once.Heggemann and Meyer drove in three runs apiece. Tuepker and Lohrer each drove home two. Poepsel, Mehler, Ruether and Jinkerson each had one RBI.“Teddy had a nice three-RBI day,” Gardner said.Pacific’s hits were singles by Caleb Trower and Ricky Ray.Jamie Hayden walked twice.
