Kroger’s Central Division announced today it will close its store in Warrenton.Company leaders attribute the decision to ongoing poor financial performance, Eric Halvorson, Kroger spokesperson said in a media release. The statement said Kroger has long monitored operations, hoping the store at 604 Booneslick Road could return to profitability, but recent evaluations suggest that is no longer realistic. With the building lease also expiring without renewal options, the store will cease operations within 30 days, Halvorson’s statement said.Halvorson said company leaders praised the store’s associates, saying the closing is not a reflection on them or their work. The 44 members of the Kroger team in Warrenton have performed extremely well and have been committed to customer service in spite of the business challenges experienced by their store, he said.Kroger will continue to count on employees' dedication through the coming month, the statement said.Members of the Kroger human resources department will use the remaining weeks to discuss severance for qualified associates and help all associates prepare for the transition.

Kroger's Central Division announced May 29 that it will close its store in Warrenton.
