State Rep. Bart Korman, R-42, is accepting applications for legislative interns for the 2013 summer. The internship is open to applicants that are interested in public service. “The 2013 session has concluded and the office benefited from having part-time interns,” said Korman. “Even though the legislature is in session part-time — from January through May — the office remains open year-round with many continuing responsibilities. I am looking ahead to the summer and would like to host an intern for the summer.” Legislative intern responsibilities in Korman’s office for the summer may include: Investigating constituent concerns /issues for possible resolutions; Researching proposed legislation/appropriation items; Attending and recording highlights of meetings as required; Prepare materials for students studying the Missouri Constitution in the fall; and Assisting with other duties as assigned. “As a Republican legislator with the Missouri House of Representatives, I currently serve as vice chairman on the Appropriations-Revenue, Transportation and Economic Development Committee," Korman said. "I am a member of the Appropriations-Agriculture and Natural Resources, Joint Committee on Transportation Oversight, Professional Registration & Licensing and Utilities committees. My areas of interest include defending our gun rights, protecting the unborn and improving our state’s infrastructure.” Korman represents Montgomery County, most of Warren County and a small portion of southern St. Charles County. It is preferred , but added that anyone may be accepted upon an interview. Office hours available are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. “I believe this is a wonderful opportunity for individuals who are interested in the legislative process,” Korman said. “The internship is a great way to earn valuable experience. Not only do you become familiar with the roles and tasks associated with Missouri government, but it is a great way to serve constituents and become familiar with a State Representative’s role. This would be an unpaid yet very rewarding experience for a student.” Interested applicants should email their resume to bart.korman@house.mo.gov.
