Hello!
My name is Kelly Bowen and I am joining the Warren County Record as the new staff writer. I will be covering sports and education. I am very excited to be here and will do my best to provide interesting and accurate news to the community.
A little bit about me – I was born and raised in St. Louis and I recently graduated from Webster University this past May with my bachelor’s degree in journalism.
During my time in college, I worked for our school newspaper, The Journal and our broadcast news station, the Webster Insider. In addition, I interned at the Missouri Youth Soccer Association and the Webster-Kirkwood Times. I played as a wing defender on Webster’s soccer team and I also studied abroad in Vienna, Austria my junior year!
I have always loved working at local newspapers and being able to write something that will make the community proud. Local news is important and I hope to continue to share insightful and honest news with Warren County. I have always been intrigued by the news as it has the power to put a smile on our face, influence the way we think, or feel or it can open our eyes to things we did not know were going on.
When I am not covering the news, I love to read a good book, watch “The Real Housewives” (my favorite Real Housewife show is Salt Lake City) and play with my adorable Bernese Mountain dog, Rosie. Since I am covering sports, I think it’s important that you know my favorite sports teams. As a St. Louis native, of course, I have to cheer on the Cardinals, Blues and City team. In addition to this, I am also a Celtics fan and a huge fan of the U.S. women’s national soccer team. For all the soccer fans reading this, I am also a firm believer that Lionel Messi is the better player compared to Christiano Ronaldo.
I am very happy to be here! I cannot wait to meet more of you in the community and for the people I have met, it is always a pleasure talking to you and hearing your stories. If you ever have any story ideas, questions or just want to say hi, please reach out!
