Judge Wes Dalton dies at age 60

Wesley C. Dalton, 60, presiding judge of the Warren County Circuit Court, died unexpectedly Sunday, said county coroner Glenn Craig.Dalton complained of chest pain and collapsed Sunday afternoon, Craig said. An ambulance was called and took Dalton to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in Lake St. Louis. Dalton arrived at the emergency room just before 4 p.m., where medical staff attempted to revive him until he was pronounced deceased at 4:31, Craig said.The coroner added that all information about the cause of Dalton’s death is still preliminary, and a full medical report has yet to be released. Craig said no information indicated anything suspicious or out of the ordinary about Dalton’s death.A family member on Monday morning said arrangements are being made for a visitation and funeral for Dalton. More information will be announced at a later time.Dalton was set to retire from his position as presiding judge at the end of this year. He chose not to seek reelection in this year’s voting. He was elected to his single term as presiding judge in 2012, succeeding Judge Keith Sutherland. Dalton previously served as associate circuit judge.
