Jordan Speiser heads to powerhouse Oklahoma to continue basketball career

For Jordan Speiser, the choice wasn’t a difficult one.

Finding a new home as a transfer from Kansas State after her freshman year, Speiser – who hails from Warrenton – said her choice to join Oklahoma, coached by Jennie Baranczyk, was easy.

“It feels awesome knowing I’m going to a team that is successful already, and just being able to add to that success and do my part is really exciting,” Speiser said. “I chose OU for many reasons.”

A 6-1 guard, Speiser heads to Norman, Okla., and the Southeastern Conference as a sophomore after spending her freshman season at Kansas State. Last year, she averaged 10.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 35 percent from 3-point range for the Wildcats.

During her season with Kansas State, Speiser played in 37 games with three starts, averaging 22.9 minutes per contest.

She joins an OU squad, which finished the 2025-26 season with a 26-8 record and a second straight sweet sixteen berth.

“Coach Jennie is great,” Speiser said. “She is the perfect mix, I think, of a coach that cares for you not only when it comes to basketball but outside of sports and you as a person, and her coaching style once again and the way she makes her team play (are positives). I love her energy and coaching style, and it just felt right.”

She was one of just two Power Four freshmen nationally to average at least 10.0 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting better than 34 percent from beyond the 3-point arc. She led the Wildcats in scoring eight times and recorded 20 games with double-figure points, including two 20-point performances.

Speiser elevated her play during Kansas State's run in the Big 12 Tournament, averaging 15.7 points on 50% shooting to earn Big 12 All-Tournament Team honors. Four of her five highest-scoring games came against NCAA Tournament teams, including 21 points vs. Oklahoma State, 19 vs. Ole Miss, 17 vs. Iowa State and 16 vs. TCU.

"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Jordan to Norman," Baranczyk said. "She had a great freshman season and has already shown the ability to impact the game at a high level. She brings toughness, versatility and a competitive edge that fits perfectly with how we want to play. She's a great addition to our program on and off the court, and we're excited for Sooner Nation to see what she can do."

Speiser said that her first season of collegiate basketball helped her learn a lot about this level of the game and about herself, which she can take with her to Oklahoma.

“I learned a lot,” Speiser said. “But, I think the main thing is learning to stay consistent and keep that consistency throughout the season is huge, not only for myself but my team as well.”

In high school at Lutheran St. Charles, Speiser was not only a five-star prospect but a 2025 McDonald's All-American.

Before her collegiate career, Speiser was also a consensus top-20 prospect in the 2025 class, ranked No. 14 by Prospects Nation, No. 16 by ESPN and No. 19 by 247Sports. She also competed in the Jordan Brand Classic and represented the United States at the 2025 Nike Hoop Summit.

One of the top shooters in her class, Speiser shot 55% at Nike Nationals and 47% across EYBL competition as a senior. At Lutheran, she was a two-time Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Class 5 All-State selection and led her team to a state championship in 2023 and a runner-up finish in 2025. As a senior, she averaged 23.4 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game.

Speiser joins an Oklahoma program under Baranczyk, who was a semifinalist for national coach of the year. With her addition, the Sooners' roster features five ESPN top-70 prospects from the 2025 class: No. 3 Aaliyah Chavez, No. 16 Jordan Speiser, No. 31 Keeley Parks, No. 50 Keziah Lofton , and No. 66 Brooklyn Stewart, along with Sahara Williams, who was the No. 23 prospect in 2023.
