WISE Foundation, a Warrenton-area nonprofit dedicated to student scholarships, is celebrating a recent donation from staff members of Jonesburg State Bank.
“The Jonesburg State Bank’s website describes them as ‘A community-oriented institution,’ and that description is more than accurate,” said WISE Foundation board member Carmen Schulze.
When bank President and CEO Dan Robb received a fundraising appeal from the WISE Foundation, he approached the bank’s Senior Vice President Kyle Smith (who is also a WISE board member) to suggest a fundraising idea.
His thought was a lobster boil, that he and his wife Diana would host at their home and invite community friends to attend by purchasing tickets. The Robbs and staff from Jonesburg State Bank were the hosts for the event, cooking and serving the lobster.
The result was to raise $10,000, donated to the WISE Foundation’s mission of academic success and scholarship.
“We’re honored by this donation through the efforts Jonesburg State Bank and their community commitment,” Schulze said.
