Mr. John Herschel Dreyer, of Warrenton, MO, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2020. John was born on October 26, 1933, in Warrenton to the late Fred and Meta (nee: Poeppelmeyer) Dreyer. John had reached the age of 86 years 10 months and 30 days.
John was a lifelong resident of Warren County. He was married to Margaret Elizabeth Stapleton on September 6, 1958, in Warrenton. To this union, three children were born. John and Margaret celebrated 62 wonderful years together. John was an avid baseball fan, he had a love and passion for the game. He had tried out for the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team and remained a loyal fan. He coached many local baseball teams as well over the years. Another passion was spending time on his farm. John worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 3202 for many years. Another of John’s great joys came from spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John Dreyer was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Meta; 5 siblings, Cecil Dreyer, Mildred Williams, Agnes Logan, Ruby Witte, Kenneth Dreyer; one granddaughter, Stephanie Garrison Polston. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Dreyer; his three children, John Dreyer Jr., James Dreyer, and wife Karen, Lori Garrison and husband Dave; 8 grandchildren, Michael Dreyer (Kortnie), Andrew Dreyer (Natalie), Abby Dreyer (Bree), Samantha Jorens (Danny), Kellen Dreyer (Bri), Heath Dreyer, Anna Garrison (Ashley), Cole Garrison (Vithya), John Polston; 7 great-grandchildren, Chase, Lucy, Bella, Ruby, Daisy, Millie, Maggie; one brother Robert Dreyer; many relatives and many friends.
A Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Warrenton. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lippstadt Cemetery with full military honors.
