By Chris OrletRecord Managing EditorThe film “Escape From Alcatraz” it was not.A Warren County Jail inmate tried twice to escape from jail Oct. 14, and both times he got little more than a few yards away before he was recaptured.Steven Nam Hyun Cho, 25, of Independence, had been jailed on a misdemeanor charge after he was caught allegedly stealing items from the Warrenton Wal-Mart, said Warren County Prosecutor Mike Wright.Cho now faces two felony counts of attempt to escape from confinement, with a possible sentence of up to eight years in prison.According to court documents, Cho’s first escape attempt came when he was escorted by two jailers into a shower room. A short time later Cho ran from the shower room and attempted to leave the jail through the doors leading to the visitation area and new housing dorm. Cho was recaptured and secured to a bench in the booking area. The second escape attempt occurred when a jailer was attempting to adjust Cho’s handcuffs. Once Cho was released from the stationary bench, Cho fled again for the visitation area and new housing dorm. The inmate was quickly subdued and secured to the stationary bench in booking and his legs were shackled.Cho is now being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.Jailers Foil 2 Escape Attempts by Same Inmate
