To The Editor: An independent, comprehensive and transparent investigation of the scope of Russian influence in the last presidential election must be conducted.The dismissal of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and reports of Russian election meddling favoring Donald Trump has placed American people and the world in a place where they must understand what happened. This is about maintaining the credibility of our government and country, not politics. Fair elections are the bedrock of democracy and people’s acceptance of elected officials.The Republican administration has blamed illegal leaks. This is insufficient and doesn’t define what happened so lessons can be learned. If there were leaks, the specifics and motivation for the leaks need to be determined.Paul GodtWright City
