With the new season quickly approaching, Innsbrook Resort has made a pair of changes to its golf department. In January, Innsbrook contracted with Walter’s Golf Management to manage its course.Recently, it also announced the addition of Kevin Corn to the staff as its new PGA Head Golf Professional. He comes to Innsbrook after gaining experience at courses in the St. Louis area as well as along the Atlantic Coast.“Innsbrook is an incredible facility, and I am honored to be the new head golf professional,” said Corn. “The entire golf staff is committed to providing a first-class golf experience to everyone who comes out to play.”Corn received his PGA status at age 22 and was at one time the youngest Class A PGA professional in the country. He spent two years as the head golf pro and eight years as first assistant at Glen Echo Country Club in St. Louis. Corn worked one year at the Peninsula Club in North Carolina and five years at award-winning resorts in Myrtle Beach, S.C., including the Legends Golf Resort and Wild Wing Plantation.Corn implemented and currently runs the Junior Golf Program at Ranken-Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital, the only facility in the country that provides rehabilitation and sub-acute medical treatment for children regardless of their family’s ability. He has received multiple awards for his dedication to this program.“The golf program at Ranken Jordan is very, very special to me,” said Corn. “May 10 marks our three-year anniversary and to date we have positively impacted the lives of over 1,700 kids and their families.”Corn says the weekly youth clinics have been both an inspirational and humbling experience, as he encourages children of all ages to explore the joys of learning and playing golf. He remembers that same thrill when his father first introduced him to the game at age five.“I was hooked,” said Corn. “A reasonably successful junior career and a love for teaching the game — this part, instilled by parents who worked in education — led me to pursue golf as a career.”Corn attended Coastal Carolina University, where he earned a marketing degree with an emphasis in golf management. At the same time, he completed his required PGA education and earned his membership with the PGA of America.Lucy Mitchell, Walter’s Golf Management President Principal Partner, believes Innsbrook is bringing onboard a quality component.“Kevin is a respected PGA Class A golf professional,” said Mitchell.Corn says he is thrilled to be a part of the Innsbrook family and looks forward to providing the property owners and daily fee golfers with a fun and enjoyable outing, regardless of experience level.INNSBROOK CHANGESGoogle image.
