A former inmate at the Warren County Jail is facing four additional felony charges stemming from a 2023 altercation.
Elijah Moore was charged Aug. 29 with two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.
Moore attacked a jailer with a sharpened object, causing a laceration to the person’s right eye lid and threw a mixture of soap and chemicals into the eyes of a second person, according to a probable cause statement filed by Warren County Sheriff’s deputy Alexis Palank. The altercation was reported at 2:12 p.m. on March 16, 2023. Tasers were deployed on Moore, but they were ineffective because he wrapped towels underneath his shirt
Responding units arrived on the scene and were able to subdue Moore. The incident caused police from multiple different agencies, including Warrenton, Wright City, Truesdale, and the Missouri Highway Patrol to descend on the jail.
Moore is currently housed in the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston after being handed a 30-year sentence for attempting to kill a federal officer, discharging a firearm and carjacking.
