Inmate charged for exiting jail garage

A female inmate who was previously held at the Warren County Jail is being charged with attempted escape after she was able to exit the jail building.

Brianna L. Mueller, 25, of Warrenton, was issued a low-level felony charge last week for an incident that allegedly occurred on Aug. 19. According to court information submitted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, Mueller was a jail inmate and needed to be transported outside of the jail and then back again on the day of the incident. To transport inmates, the sheriff’s department uses vans that come in and out of a “sally port,” a secure garage on the lower level of the jail.

According to the sheriff’s department report, the deputy in charge of the transport van pulled it into the sally port and then let Mueller out of the van, using a step stool to assist her. While the deputy was bending over to put the step stool away, Mueller allegedly fled out of the sally port and exited the building.

Multiple officers shouted at Mueller to stop, and she did stop once she was outside the building, according to the sheriff’s department. She was then returned to the jail.

Several weeks later, Mueller was sentenced to prison on multiple drug possession charges, according to online court records.

The new charge against Mueller is a class E felony.
