Incumbents in Wright City Races Win Re-Election to Seats

The two incumbent officeholders on the Wright City Board of Aldermen won their respective re-election bids in Tuesday’s municipal election. In the race for the Wright City R-II School Board, the two incumbent board members also won new terms. Ward 1 Alderman Danny Rowden was elected to a new two-year term, defeating Matt Barbey. There were 92 votes cast in the election. Rowden polled 53 votes, 57.61 percent of the total. Barbey received 39 votes, or 42.39 percent. In Ward 2, Jim Toothman won a three-way race for the available seat. A total of 120 ballots were cast.Toothman received 66 votes, 55 percent of the total. Forrest Bruce was given 21 votes, 17.5 percent, and former alderman Angie Reynolds polled 26 ballots, or 21.67 percent. Kay Janish, who withdrew from the race shortly after the ballot was certified in January, still received seven votes, 5.83 percent of the total ballots cast.

School Board Race Austin Jones and Mary E. Groeper were chosen to serve new three-year terms as school board members. Four candidates were seeking two positions on the board. Jones polled 303 votes, or 30.51 of the 993 ballots cast in the election. Groeper was given 361 votes, 36.55 percent of the total. Daniel J. LaMartina Sr. received 155 votes, 15.61 percent, and Rodney G. Smith was given 173 votes, 17.42 percent. One write-in ballot was cast, according to the unofficial election returns from the Warren County Clerk’s office.
