Hometown Christmas, Warrenton’s annual holiday celebration, will bring merriment and cheer to Main Street all day Saturday, Dec. 7.
The festival, organized by the Warrenton Downtown Association, will feature food, performances and a visit from Santa.
All morning beginning at 9 a.m., there will be a breakfast with Santa at Blue Anchor Cafe. Frieden’s United Church of Christ will host a cookie walk, and United Methodist Church will host a pancake breakfast.
In the afternoon, Frieden’s church will host a performance by the Innsbrook Choir at 3:30 p.m.
The largest part of the Hometown Christmas celebration begins at 4 p.m. at the Schowengerdt House. There will be an opening ceremony, invocation, and an address from Mayor Eric Schleuter. It will culminate with a tree lighting at Schowengerdt House.
Vendors will be open for business on Main Street beginning at 4:30 p.m., and Santa with Mrs. Claus will be available for photos.
Creekside Place Church Praise Band will perform at 4:30, and the Nexxstar Dancers from Dance Variations will perform at 5:30.
Throughout the festival, children can write letters to Santa, decorate sugar cookie, get some hot chocolate and do other crafts. All the while, the Warrenton High School Choir will be caroling along Main Street and bringing Christmas cheer.
Main Street through downtown Warrenton will be closed to vehicle traffic starting at 3 p.m. for the festival.
