The Hometown Christmas event will take place Saturday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 5 p.m. along Main Street in Warrenton.This is a change from previous years, when the event was held on Fridays. Organizers hope having it on Saturday will allow more people to attend.Hometown Christmas will kick off with a parade starting at 2 p.m. The parade will begin at Friedens United Church of Christ, 313 E. Main St., and ends at SAF Holland.Here are the day’s other activities:• Free carriage rides from 2:30-5 p.m.• At Friedens United Church of Christ on Main Street, there will be a traditional cookie walk in the morning. It will last until about noon or until cookie supplies run out.• The Innsbrook Choir will perform at the church from 4-4:30 p.m. When the sun goes down, the church will present a live Nativity scene.• College United Methodist Church (across from the Dollar Tree), will host a Pancake Day from 7 to 1 p.m. In the afternoon, the church will host crafts for the kids at United Country Real Estate on Main Street.• The city of Warrenton will participate, too. People may stop by city hall to register for the Electronic Giveaway. Be sure the kids pick up a treat bag before they leave so that they have reindeer food to sprinkle in front of their home on Christmas Eve.• The city will sponsor a free raffle giveaway with $15,000 worth of prizes. Some of the prizes include tablets, game consoles, electronic educational toys, and much more. Prizes are broken up into four age groups: Pre K (under 6), 6-12, 13-17, and 18 and over.Registration at city hall is required for each entrant and will be held from 2-5 p.m.Winners will be randomly selected and contacted the week of Dec. 5.
