Home and Garden Show On Tap for Weekend

With mild temperatures teasing residents to get outside, organizers of the 11th Annual Home and Garden Show hope area residents take advantage of this weekend's event. Nearly 40 businesses and organizations will be displaying their products and showcasing their services at the show to be held Saturday, April 17, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday, April 18, from noon-3 p.m. at the Missouri Army National Guard Armory in Warrenton. The event is sponsored by the Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce. Admission is free.   "There's a lot to see," Chamber Executive Director Jan Olearnick said. "We're excited to see such a variety." Some of the area businesses and organizations who will be attending include Bath Fitter, Culligan Water Company, Hansen's Mulch and More, Lawn and Landscape Solutions and the Warrenton Garden Club. Other items that will be sold include jewelry, cosmetics and wine. The show is a kid friendly event as well, according to organizers. Some of the activities include bounce houses, a bungee run and face painting. A monster truck and supercross team also will be on display. St. Louis radio station, KMOX, will be broadcasting live Saturday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Bronto, the Warren County Sheriff's Department canine dog, will also be present Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. "There's a wide variety of stuff we have, jewelry, purses, and a lot of good food," chairman John Meier said. "You can't beat that. We're trying to pique everyone's interest." While booths will take up much of the lot outside of the armory, Olearnick said plenty of parking is available with assistance from a local Boy Scout group. Since the show has moved to the armory, she said the annual event has been able to grow due to its highly visible location off Interstate 70. Olearnick added the Chamber has benefited from the Armory's generosity to be able to use the property for free. "That is a big deal," she said. "That helps us put this on." Booth space also is available, Meier said, and can be reserved up to 1 p.m. on Friday. For more information contact the Chamber office at 636-456-2530.
