Herbs of the Ozarks presentation to be held

Kenneth R. Porter, adjunct professor at Lindenwood University, will be giving a presentation on Thursday, June 4, at 7 p.m. at the Warren County Historical Society.The presentation will feature the story of herbs and their unique past use in the Ozarks. Porter will showcase how the old ways of “root diggers” still thrive in some places in Missouri. He will touch on goldenseal, black walnut, sassafras, plantain, echinacea, St. John’s wort, comfrey, skullcap, and other plants utilized in the Ozarks.Porter is retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and has conducted conservation and Lewis and Clark programs for the Missouri Department of Conservation.
