Henry R. Nicholas

Mr. Henry R. Nicholas, 83, of Warrenton, MO, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2020, at his home. He was born on August 20, 1936, in Clinton, KY to Lonzy and Dellar (O’Neal) Nicholas.

Henry grew up on a small farm with his seven siblings and knew what sharing and thinking of others first meant. After his formal schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the 1950s. After serving in the U.S. military, he met and soon after married Betty E. McCure. To this union were born three children: Janet, Lonnie, and Anita. The family lived in St. Louis and then Moscow Mills. During these early years, Henry worked at Hussmann Refrigeration and was a member of Aerospace Workers Local No. 1745. He later met Carolyn Wood; and they were married on Dec. 4, 1982, at the Hawk Point Baptist Church. After leaving Hussmann Refrigeration, he began working for the Holland Binkley Co. in Warrenton, retiring in 1999. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, coon hunting, and breeding rat terriers. Henry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many.

Surviving are his beloved wife of over 37 years, Carolyn Nicholas of Warrenton; his six children: Nancy (Randy) Cathey of Water Valley, KY, Janet (Ted) Niehoff of Troy, Lonnie (Karla) Nicholas of Warrenton, Anita (Charles) Marshall of Elkville, IL, Paul (Carrie) Wood of Cookville, TN, Jeremy (Tracy) Wood of Pearland, TX; 10 grandchildren: Crystal

McGaha, Justin (Jen) Niehoff, Valerie (Evan) Wilson, Shawn (Cathryn) Nicholas, Jason (Audrey) Nicholas, Kayla (Austin) Broeker, Nicole (Doug) Brand, Tiffani (Clint) Cole, Sierra (Anthony) Bilbrey and Olivia Wood. He is further survived by his adoring 14 great-grandchildren: Zavier, Kaley, Gage, Scarlet, Savannah, Sadie, Grant, Madeline, Levi, Paytyn, Sophia, Vinny, Avery, Liam; many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Nicholas, and his seven siblings: Monroe, Louise, Gracie Mae, Gladys, Donie, Dorothy, and Virginia.

Visitation – scheduled from 4-8p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, and also from 12 noon until 1 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 22, 2020, at the Hawk Point Chapel of McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 493 Main St., Hk. Pt. 63349.

Funeral service – scheduled at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2020, at the Hk. Pt. Chapel of McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory. Pastor Mark Meyer to officiate.
