Head injury leads to assault charge

A Warrenton resident has been arrested for allegedly causing a head injury to another person during a fight.Curtis Owens, 36, is charged with second-degree domestic assault. He was arrested Feb. 27 and was released on $10,000 bond.The charge stems from a Feb. 17 incident. Warrenton police were called just before 9:30 a.m. after a domestic assault and injury were reported at the 400 block of East Booneslick Road, according to Warrenton police.The victim in the assault told police Owens had punched the right side of her head, then shoved her into the corner of a wall, causing her to strike the back of her head. The sudden blow to the victim’s head caused her to lose consciousness and begin having a seizure, police said.Upon regaining consciousness, police said the victim had blurry vision, was unable to stand or walk, and could not hear out of her right ear.According to authorities, children who were present corroborated the victim’s story.The charge against Owens is a Class D felony, punishable by a prison sentence or a fine. He has an arraignment scheduled for March 14 at the Warren County Circuit Court.
