Record Managing EditorOnly a week remains for Warren County taxpayers to pay their property tax bills before the New Year. All real estate and personal property taxes must be paid in full by midnight Thursday, Dec. 31, or have a 2015 postmark to avoid late penalties.Any payments considered late must be returned because they don’t include additional fees for interest owed.“Overall, it’s been going good and we have had few problems,” Warren County Collector Julie Schaumberg said.Combined real estate and personal property taxes for 2015 total $31,606,615.92. Of that figure, $25,814,668.87 is for real estate taxes and $5,791,947.05 is for personal property taxes. As of Friday, a little over $18 million has been paid.Payments can be made in person at the collector’s office, located on the main floor of the Warren County Administration Building at 101 Mockingbird Lane in Warrenton, online at warrencountymo.org/collector, or by mail. No payments will be accepted over the phone, Schaumberg noted. A drop box also is located at the main entrance of the administration building where payments can be placed. Payments will be removed from the drop box following the midnight deadline on Dec. 31.The collector’s office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays. All county offices will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25.Payments can be made with cash, check, credit/debit card, cashier’s check or money order. Checks should be made payable to the Warren County Collector Fund. No payments will be made over the phone. This is the first year credit and debit card payments are being accept and so far the response has been positive, Schaumberg said. Users are charged a 2.5 percent convenience fee, or $3.95 if the payment is made using a Visa debit card.“Some people realize there is a convenience fee and write a check instead,” Schaumberg said. “Some say this is the first time they have been current on their taxes in years.”Taxpayers in need of an immediate paid receipt should make their payment in person, Schaumberg said. Otherwise, a paid receipt will be mailed and should be received within five to seven days. This includes online payments. For more information, contact the collector’s office at 636-456-3330.Taxes Due
