GWCEDC sponsors students in Build-a-Business Camp

The Greater Warren County Economic Development Council (GWCEDC) sponsored two local high school students to participate in the 2015 Mizzou Build-A-Business Camp at the University of Missouri.Clayton Schowe represented Warrenton High School and McKenzie McMullin represented Wright City High School.Sixteen teens from Missouri, California, Texas and the country of Jordan participated in the eighth annual Summers at Mizzou Build-a-Business Camp, July 12-16. Campers created business ideas and plans, learned their entrepreneurial strengths, and completed camp with confidence, connections and a course of action to make their business ideas a reality.MU faculty members, business advisers and area professionals joined the youth for a consultation. Campers each made a pitch presentation to family members, camp sponsors and guests. Local entrepreneurs with startup experience served as judges for the idea pitch competition.Schowe, age 16, won the competition and senior category with his Limousin and Angus cattle company, NC Cattle, which he started with his sister.“Encouraging entrepreneurs is a great way to help grow the local economy” said Gary Carter, president of the Greater Warren County EDC.The GWCEDC is taking a holistic approach to growing and improving Warren County by attracting new jobs, helping existing businesses grow and by encouraging new business creation.
