A shared railroad shipping terminal will be constructed in Warren County, the Greater Warren County Economic Development Council announced this week.It will be developed on 1.3 acres the GWCEDC has purchased in Truesdale on Nick Place Drive, along the existing Norfolk Southern railroad line. The property is located south of the Coca-Cola plant and was owned by Steve Giancola. The rail facility will have the capability to offload bulk commodities from railcars using an undercar conveyor, or can be reversed to load railcars. The property is currently being developed and the facility should be operational in 2015.A number of businesses looking to expand or relocate to the area desire to have a site with rail presence but may not ship enough product to justify the cost of their own dedicated rail spur. This shared facility will enable businesses within the area to have rail access without the high cost of constructing and operating their own terminal.“Continuing to invest in public infrastructure will help the region support business growth and constructing this rail loading facility in our own community will enhance our image as an attractive location for business,” said Gary Carter, president of the GWCEDC.“The economic development council is taking a holistic approach to growing and improving Warren County by attracting new jobs, helping our existing businesses grow, providing new job opportunities for our residents, and by laying the foundation for new development to occur. The GWCEDC is currently working with multiple local businesses that will use the facility to receive commodities. The facility will also be available to other businesses in the community that desire to ship or receive products via rail.To inquire about utilizing this service please contact the GWCEDC at 636-359-0114.Shipping terminal
