A Jefferson County man was jailed Friday after law enforcement arrested him for stealing a 12-gauge shotgun.A Warren County sheriff’s deputy previously met with the victim, who said the gun, a new cleaning kit and ammo had been stolen from his residence on Pitts Lane south of Wright City while he was out of town, between Feb. 24-26.The deputy learned that Brandt W. Sharp, 32, of Barnhart, was at the victim’s house and had access to the firearm, according to an arrest report.Sharp allegedly tried to sell the shotgun to a third party and stated he hid the weapon in nearby woods. The third party later recovered the shotgun from a field on his property, according to the report.Another witness reportedly saw a new gun cleaning kit in Sharp’s vehicle.Sharp is charged with stealing a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm, both felonies. He has a prior felony drug trafficking conviction from 2015.Sharp is being held at the Warren County Jail on a $15,000 bond. An arraignment was scheduled for March 15.Crime
