Ms. Grace Emma Kersten of Holstein, MO, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022. She was born August 19, 1935, in Holstein, MO, to the late Elmer and Elda (Nee: Hackmann) Kersten. She had reached the age of 86 years.
Grace began work at Langenberg Hat Company in the factory and worked her way up to Assistant to the President before retiring after 47 years in 2000. She was an avid music lover and played the organ and piano for 61 years for Immanuel United Church of Christ. She played for the various choirs, musical groups, weddings, funerals, and Sunday school events and taught Sunday school as well. She loved gardening and baking and sharing both with friends and family. She was a very special person and friend to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Elda. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Ann Bell; nieces and nephews of Florida; cousins, Bernice and Bob Painter, of Marthasville, Rosalie and Derrold Petersmeyer, of Warrenton, and Linda and Dale Earney, of Washington; special friends, Chris & Genie Hofstetter of Holstein; and many other relatives and friends.
We will celebrate the life of Grace Emma Kersten, Wednesday, March 2, 2020, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Holstein. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Memorial donations are preferred to Immanuel United Church of Christ, Holstein.
