People in need often don’t know where to turn for the services that can help them. That’s the premise of a twice-yearly gathering that connects service agencies across Warren County.
During the “Strengthening the Strands” resource meeting, members of health, housing, emergency and nonprofit organizations, along with local elected representatives, pool information about what they do and what services are available in the community. They also provide updates on current events and look for any service gaps that need to be filled, said Warren County Health Department Administrator Ruth Walters.
“Many times the Warren County Health Department receives phone calls or walk-ins looking for local services. They may be new to the area or have a one-time-need basis, and we’d like to find help for them,” Walters said.
Strengthening the Strands is hosted by Warren County’s Health Department and Emergency Management Agency. About 20 agencies attended the gathering Nov. 7, Walters said.
The health department collects information from the gatherings to maintain a comprehensive list of services and resources available in Warren County. To receive information about local services, call the health department at 636-456-7474.
