The Wright City Parks Department, along with groups of Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, held an official flag retirement ceremony June 17 at Diekroeger Park. They collected worn flags from the community to be part of the retirement ceremony. The custom requires United States flags that are worn or damaged, having served their country, to be retired in a dignified way. These flags were folded and burned. Record photos/Bill Barrett.
