AARP tax aide volunteers will be preparing tax returns for senior citizens and low-income residents at the Warren County Firehouse on Fairgrounds Road in Warrenton every Tuesday, beginning Feb. 3 through April 7.Volunteers are trained to prepare simple tax forms. Taxpayers with complex tax returns or instances where the counselor feels they do not have adequate training or knowledge will be advised to seek paid tax assistance. This service is offered free of charge by AARP using IRS provided tax-preparation software. Tax returns are filed electronically for federal returns and most state returns.For an appointment, call long distance at 636-465-1452. Callers should leave their name and phone number and a call will be returned within the next two to three business days. The firehouse should not be called. For tax questions only, please come to the firehouse on Tuesdays from noon to 1 p.m.If the schools are closed for inclement weather, the tax office will also be closed.Free tax preparation available for residents at firehouse
