Qualifying individuals can receive a free eye screening Friday, Sept. 23, from 8:30 to 3 p.m. at the Warren County Health Department, 101 Mockingbird Lane, Suite 100, in Warrenton.Participants will be checked for cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and other vision problems.Doctors cannot write vision prescriptions at the screening clinic. They will refer patients who need follow-up care to a local eye care specialist for further care.Patients in financial need may qualify for assistance if they meet program eligibility guidelines with the Prevention of Blindness.Missouri Department of Social Services is sponsoring the event. University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics’ Department of Ophthalmology at Columbia will perform screening with assistance from the Prevention of Blindness Unit of the Division or Social Services.Appointments are required.
