Four Warriors place first before entering holiday break

The Warrenton boys wrestling team finished out the year with a sixth-place team finish at the Harrisonville Christmas Tournament on Dec. 21.

Manny McCauley and Noah Lohrmann both took home first-place finishes for the Warriors. Competing in the 126-pound class, McCauley secured his title after defeating Warrensburg’s Jaylen Civil. McCauley now moves onto a 18-1 season record.

In the 138 class, Lohrmann beat out 22 wrestlers for first place. He now holds a 17-1 season record.

Zayden Teson was one win shy from a first-place finish, but fell to Fort Zumwalt South’s Kanyon Shurtz in the 113 class. Also competing in the 113 class, Coltan Tinker placed fourth.

Max Tesson found success in the 144 class and placed third out of 20 wrestlers after winning his match over St. Charles’ D’Monta Bagby.

Lucas Burroughs placed sixth at 215, while Korben Johnson placed seventh at 175. Also competing for the Warriors, Nathan Donovan finished ninth at 106 after defeating Pacific’s Mason Link. In the 165 class, Jamarion Fulton also
placed ninth after winning his match against Webb City’s Cooper Ray.

In addition, Jude Lohrmann placed 18th in the 132 class and Dylan Duncan finished 15th in the 157 class.

The Warrenton girls team also found success after placing fifth at the Fort Zumwalt East Tournament on Dec. 20.

Both Allison Vacek and Alexis Ruff placed first in their respective weight classes.

Competing in the 155 class, Vacek won all five rounds and now holds a 9-1 record. In the championship match, she defeated Eureka’s Mya Willis.

In the 120 class, Ruff won all five of her rounds and defeated DeSoto’s Emma Taylor in the championship match. Ruff now holds a 16-2 record.

Dakota Lohrmann finished second in the 125 class after falling to St. Clair’s Lindsay Rampani. In the 190 class, Kylie Vance placed fourth, while Charlee Kersting finished eighth in the 110 class.

In the 105 class, Meredith Donovan was the consolation champion after winning her match over Fort Zumwalt West’s Gabi Twitt. Melanie Guerrero
also held the consolation champion title after defeating Liberty’s Layla Childers in the 130 class.

Both teams will compete next at Washington on Jan. 8.
