Former Innsbrook security officer charged in burglaries

The Warren County Sheriff’s Department is pointing to a former Innsbrook security officer as the perpetrator of six burglaries in the resort community.

Harold Kiser, 20, of Wright City, is charged with stealing thousands of dollars worth of electronics and other items between July and October last year.

Kiser was suspected in October when a victim said he returned home to discover several items missing and found a note from Kiser, according to the sheriff’s department. The note stated Kiser had been to the property for an alarm call while the victim was gone.

The victim told police that he called Kiser and asked about missing wedding rings, a MacBook computer and $12 taken from the residence.

Kiser at first denied taking the items, then allegedly said he had taken them for safekeeping because he was unable to lock the door of the home. The items were returned to the homeowner.

Deputies later connected Kiser to five more Innsbrook burglaries. After obtaining consent to search his Wright City home in November, deputies located a TV and other items that had been reported stolen, detective Kevin Talir said.

Kiser was removed from the Innsbrook security department in November.

“We have never had an issue like this before in 46 years,” said Dan Dieckmann, Innsbrook’s director of security. "As soon as we found out he was responsible, we took necessary action to remove him from his post and worked alongside authorities to bring charges against him.”

Kiser is charged with six counts of second-degree burglary, theft less than $500, and five counts of receiving stolen property.

He was not in custody as of 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

More details about the Innsbrook burglaries can be found in the Thursday, Feb. 9 print edition of the Warren County Record.
