A fortuitous stroke of fate allowed Madelyn Vogler to reconnect with her roots last week at the 2013 Warren County Fair.Vogler, who was the 2005 Warren County Fair queen, took care of her parents’ farm last week while they were on vacation.John and Pat Vogler run a family farm north of Interstate 70 where they raise goats and chickens. The couple also has a horse. It also presented her with a “perfect” opportunity to volunteer at the Fair, she said.Vogler contacted Alexis Mikus and Stacy Ebbesmeyer, informing them that she wanted to help during the Fair.“I called Alexis and told her to put me to work,” Vogler remarked. “I wanted to be involved in some way.“I’m getting back in touch with my roots,” she added. “It took me six years to come back, but I love it.”Vogler, a former member of the Camp Branch 4-H Club and the Warrenton High School FFA chapter, exhibited sheep, rabbits and hogs as a youngster.“This was the week I always looked forward to,” she said. “It’s what we prepared for all year. You had to make sure your market rabbits were ready and your sheep were ready to be led.”After graduating high school, Vogler earned her degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.Currently, she works as a staff accountant for Yurbuds, a company which manufactures headphones geared toward athletes.“I miss the farm life,” Vogler said, noting that she has lived in St. Louis for the past eight years. “I come home whenever I can.”
