A Foristell woman who allegedly shot and killed her husband in 2015 is set to stand trial in January.Ashley Hunter, 29, is charged in Warren County Circuit Court with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. A five-day trial has been scheduled to begin Jan. 22.The fatal shooting occurred Jan. 15, 2015, following an argument inside the couple’s home at 29907 Old Cotton Road, located between Wright City and Foristell. Ashley Hunter shot her husband seven times, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.Authorities said Ashley Hunter called 911 at 7:52 p.m. to report she had been involved in an argument with her husband and that she had shot him in the chest. Deputies found Nicholas Hunter dead on the living room floor upon arrival.The couple had been arguing and the woman went upstairs and retrieved a handgun, authorities said. The suspect indicated the couple had been in a physical argument and she was transported to the hospital for evaluation following the shooting, authorities said. She was released that same night.The couple had been married for less than a year, according to authorities. Two children that were inside the home, ages 5 and 7 at the time, were not harmed. The children are Ashley Hunter’s from a previous relationship, authorities reported.The suspect was arrested Jan. 22, 2015, the same day criminal charges were filed after she ran in front of a vehicle on Interstate 70. She was not seriously injured and was taken into custody after being released from the hospital.She pleaded not guilty to the charges in July 2015 and has been in custody since.Ashley Hunter
