Five people are running for three available positions as trustees in the village of Innsbrook.
Incumbents Jeff Thomsen, Trish Dunn and Jerry Rust are being challenged by Cynthia Bowers and Donna West.
Voters should select three candidates.
Trustees serve two-year terms.
The Record received profiles from Bowers, West and Thomsen. Their profiles are below:
Cynthia Bowers
Cynthia “Cindy” Bowers retired in 2014 from a Fortune 500 company where she held a vice president position. She is certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt for lean manufacturing process improvement and a Senior Professional Human Resource Professional (SPHPR) with the Human Resource Certification Institute.
She is an active member of the Innsbrook Garden Club, Innsbrook Institute, Innsbrook Historical Society and PBS.
“After living as a permanent resident in Warren County for the last five years, my goal is to take a leadership role as a trustee of the village of Innsbrook. As I am a strong community supporter, I believe I can make a difference by listening to the needs and wants of the residents and creating a plan of improvement to embrace our growing and sustainable community,” Bowers said.
“One of the policy changes I would like to pursue is better oversight to identify areas where there may be conflicts of interest within the village of Innsbrook’s elected officials,” she said. “As the trustee of the village of Innsbrook, my actions and policy recommendations will be based on the best interests of the residents.”
She is married to Jim Bowers.
Donna West
Donna West is retired with a background in payroll, benefits, sales and use taxes.
She believes her financial experience would be an asset.
“Having resided in both urban and rural areas (in Missouri), I understand the importance of maintaining quality lifestyles in a diverse community while preserving the natural environment,” Bowers said. “My extensive experience in business, including business ownership, will extend to execution of tasks within budgetary parameters.”
If elected, she would investigate the need for and make the needed improvements on roadways, at entrances, and along shoulders and implement dry hydrants for fire protection.
“(I would) promote and continue the current established projects the board of trustees has determined to be priority. I would recognize all citizens in the community for equal and fair representation which includes the planned development, rural, agricultural and forestry sectors,” she said.
She is married to Gary West.
Jeff Thomsen
Jeff Thomsen is a semi-retired attorney handling pro bono cases and estate planning, and an adjunct professor in the business school at Lindenwood University in St. Charles.
He is a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Warren County Sheltered Workshop, a board member of the Innsbrook Historical Society, God Cares Charity and former board member of NECAC.
“I am running for re-election because I have served as a trustee since 2010, and chairman of the board for past six years, and I feel a strong commitment to continue to serve the community,” he said.
“Since I have been in office the village has become much more involved in the Warren County community affairs through participation in Boonslick Regional Planning Commission meetings and events and programs, and participation in local government officials meetings to coordinate our efforts,” he said.
During his time as a trustee, he said finances have been stable and the village has been able to fund road improvements with the use of a Neighborhood Improvement District, and by working with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to finance and install safety shoulders along State Highway F. Innsbrook has sponsored Red Cross blood drives, provided waste recycling collection and hosted Meet the Candidate Nights.
Thomsen said he would continue to support Innsbrook’s opposition to turning a neighboring quarry into a shooting range. He would support continued involvement with Boonslick Regional Planning Commission activities, including participation in the Transportation Committee, which is charged with proposing transportation improvements to MoDOT.
“The village (of Innsbrook) will continue to support efforts to have a no-kill animal shelter in Warren County and we are moving closer to this goal,” he added.
He is married to Sharon Thomsen.
