Fitness Is Way of Life for Warrenton Business

One of Warrenton’s newest businesses was founded on the belief that you can reshape your life in more ways than one. Resurrection Fitness was created from humble beginnings with what owners Lance and Lauren Caron said was a desire to improve themselves and others. “I was about 12 years old and a female mentioned that I was kind of skinny and it had a negative connotation,” he said. “I went to my dad and said let’s do this and we started working on fitness. Fitness was a father and son bonding thing. “I saw how my dad helped me and it made me want to help other people,” said Lance, adding that trying to meet the needs of people is something he has always strived for. “I worked at a large gym and I saw that the clients didn’t like being watched (by other clients) because their goals were different compared to everyone else’s,” he said. “We wanted to create a more private, interactive and better feel.” Resurrection Fitness draws its name from transforming people and a strong Christian background. The Carons said the business is all about improving people physically and emotionally. And Lauren said emotional health can be enhanced through physical health. “It’s more than physical,” she said. “It’s emotional and you’ll start dreaming bigger.” And dreaming, she said, is where physical and mental transformation begin. Perhaps starting the business out of their home’s dining room and basement was not what the Carons had in mind for a fitness studio, but they made adjustments to meet their clients’ needs. “We still have those clients with us today,” said Lauren, of the original customers. Now in its current location at 704 N. Highway 47, Resurrection Fitness is helping a wide array of clients better their lives through instructional-based training. “So many people don’t see their transformation as a reality,” said Lance. “You just need to set realistic goals, find someone who is educated in training and be as consistent as you can. You start to see the results and that’s the motivation. Nobody is out of reach. “You don’t realize you’re addicted to (fitness),” he added. “We show them their goals can be reached in a fun and safe manner.” Resurrection Fitness offers a variety of programs to help get people in shape, including 5 Weeks to 5K and the barbell-based body pump program. A nutrition specialist on staff also helps clients with dieting and surpassing their weight loss goals. But the Carons said safety through instructional-based fitness is what sets them apart from other fitness studios. “We’re with you the entire time,” said Lance. “The best way is through supervision so you know exactly what to do.” “We live it,” said Lauren. “It’s not just a job, it reflects our lifestyle. It’s like brushing your teeth, it’s something you do every day.” Resurrection Fitness recently released an iPhone application called “Pocket Personal Trainer,” which the Carons said is like having a trainer with you at all times. The idea behind the application, Lance said, is to assist those whose schedules don’t allow them to go to the studio. “It’s me on all the (application) videos doing certified workout demonstrations and it’s always randomized,” he said. The Carons said there are a variety of options for people on the fence about joining Resurrection Fitness, including a free personal training consultation and informational visits to any training class. A Try the Trainer program, which offers four weeks with a trainer for $95 is also available. “I like working with people,” said Lance. “You get to know their personality and you see them overjoyed with the immeasurable becoming measurable.” “I like being a motivator and to be accountable for them,” Lauren said. “The confidence goes from nothing to something. We get to know you and your goals become our goals.” Resurrection Fitness is open Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The studio can be reached at 636-456-8916 or resfit.net.
