Record Managing EditorMembers of the WISE Foundation are pleased with the results of the group’s recent fundraiser and are already making plans for next year. The Red and White Dinner Auction, held April 11 at the Holy Rosary Activity Center, raised approximately $28,000, according to WISE Foundation member Dale Schowe.“It was a resounding success,” he said. “All I heard was positives.”This was the first year the WISE Foundation organized and hosted the dinner auction. The Rotary Club of Warren County previously held a fundraising auction in the spring, but its members decided to no longer host the event and asked the WISE Foundation if it was interested in taking it over. The WISE Foundation is a nonprofit organization formed a few years ago to support the Warren County R-III School District in charitable and educational purposes.Besides the dinner, the event featured 59 silent and 28 oral auction items. Schowe said the group set a fundraising goal of $15,000 to $18,000.The proceeds from last month’s fundraiser will go toward scholarships for graduating seniors at Warrenton High School and for grants awarded to teachers in the district.“We thank the community for their tremendous support,” Schowe said. “It was a phenomenal evening.”The WISE Foundation anticipates the dinner auction becoming an annual fundraiser, with next year’s event scheduled for April 16.“We will continue with it and see where it goes,” Schowe said.Wise Foundation
