The cause of a fire that destroyed a Warrenton home last week is under investigation. Warrenton Fire Capt. Brett Owenby said the home was a total loss.Warrenton firefighters were called to the home on Honeysuckle Court in the Paddock Fields mobile home park at 12:11 p.m. Jan. 22, Owenby said. When the first truck arrived less than 10 minutes later, the entire home was already in flames.“We had two lines off the initial truck we used to knock the fire back and get inside,” Owenby described. He said the initial response was slightly stalled while waiting for a second crew, which arrived from Wright City Fire Protection District.Firefighters from Marthasville and Lincoln County fire districts also responded to the blaze. The fire was persistent, with flames at times streaming through the windows like a bonfire. A Record staff member observed flames re-emerging where firefighters had already been, until backup crews made entry to control the entire structure.Firefighters tore into the walls of the home to get at embers within. By the time the fire was under control, a person standing on one side of the home could see someone else standing on the opposite side.Capt. Owenby said the cause of the fire is unknown, but was believed to originate in the laundry area at the rear of the home. At one point, firefighters could be seen pushing a burning washing machine and dryer out the back door of the home before extinguishing them.Three adults and three children were living at the home, none of whom were injured, Owenby said. They were referred to the American Red Cross for aid.MTV total loss 1 013119.JPGMTV total loss 2 013119.JPG
