Fire forces Madam Voodoo’s House of Ink to move

A fire in the same building as Madam Voodoo’s House of Ink is under investigation.The fire happened Saturday, June 22. The fire call came in at 12:07 a.m. for 224 E. Booneslick Road.Warrenton Fire Protection District Chief Anthony Hayeslip said the state fire marshal is investigating and a report may not be ready for several weeks.No one was injured and no one was reported to be in the structure at the time of the fire, Hayeslip said.The fire was in an upstairs apartment unit.Video taken by a bystander at the scene shows flames shooting from the upper windows.Madam Voodoo’s is on the lower floor.“The majority of the fire damage was contained to the floor of origin, and the rest of the building suffered some water damage,” Hayeslip said.Warrenton Fire crews arrived at 12:12 a.m. The fire was under control at 12:58 a.m.Wright City, Wentzville, Lincoln County and Hawk Point fire districts also responded.The shop is owned by Malissa Booth. She said on her Facebook page that she will not reopen in the space. The building has been condemned because of the damage. She will be opening at a building nearby after renovations.A Go Fund Me page, “Let’s get Madame Voodoo’s House of Ink Back Open,” was started the day after the fire. The fundraisers hope to collect $15,000 to help Booth reopen.

A fire on June 22 forced the condemnation of the building that housed Madam Voodoo’s House of Ink, business owner Malissa Booth said.
