The Marthasville Area Volunteer Fire Department will hold a barbecue Saturday, July 21, from noon to 6 p.m.The event will take place at the Marthasville City Park.Proceeds will help the department purchase technical rescue equipment for water rescue. The swift water gear needed costs $2,000 per firefighter.Each rescuer will need specialized helmets, dry suits, boots, gloves and life jackets.The department also hopes to raise money to purchase a rescue boat, trailer and motor for a total cost of $20,000.The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.The menu will include pork steaks, brats, salad, baked beans, corn, green beans, bread and desserts. Carryout meals will be available.
