Fire damages home in Warrenton

Fire crews were able to save a local home after flames burned in the lower level Thursday morning, May 16.Warrenton Fire Protection District said responders were dispatched around 3 a.m. to a residence at the 300 block of East Walton Street in Warrenton, where heavy smoke and fire were coming from the walkout basement. All of the residents were out of the building, and the fire was quickly extinguished, the district said.Fire officials said the home did not have working smoke alarms.“Thankfully, the homeowners woke up to this before it was too late,” the fire district commented on its Facebook page.Any resident of the Warrenton Fire Protection District who does not have smoke alarms or has non-functioning smoke alarms can call the district office at 636-456-8935 to have an alarm installed for free, the district said.

There was smoke damage and debris throughout the lower level of a home at the 300 block of East Walton Street in Warrenton after a fire May 16.
