Fire Chief Mike Owenby has retired from the Warrenton Fire Protection District. “The board (of directors) has accepted Mike’s retirement from the fire district and we wish him well in his future endeavors,” said Don Owenby, president of the board of directors for the Warrenton Fire Protection District. Mike Owenby had served with the district for more than 30 years. For more than a decade he served as fire chief. The chief was suspended by the board earlier this year, for unspecified reasons. He had not returned to work with the fire district before this announcement. Don Owenby, who is also Mike’s brother, said a replacement chief has not yet been determined.
