Less than a week remains for candidates to file to run for an office in the Warren County government. Filing closes Tuesday, March 27.Candidates can file at the Warren County Clerk’s Office, 101 Mockingbird Lane, Suite 302, Warrenton.Primary elections for county offices will take place in August and general elections are in November — not to be confused with the municipal elections coming up in two weeks.Everyone filing for a county office must bring identification and pay a $50 filing fee, which goes to the county committee of the political party for which the candidate files. Candidates must also complete an affidavit of tax payments.Here are the offices up for election and the candidates who have filed so far:Presiding commissionerThree candidates have filed for the presiding seat on the Warren County Commission. Incumbent Roger R. Mauzy Sr. will be on the ballot to retain his position.Challenging him are Joe Gildehaus of Marthasville, who is running as a Republican, and David J. Hubbard, also of Marthasville, who is running as a Democrat.Associate circuit judge, Division 2Richard L. Scheibe has filed for re-election.Associate circuit judge, Division 3Michael S. Wright has filed for re-election.County clerkDenise Stotler, Warrenton, is the sole candidate to file so far.Circuit court clerkTimothy C. Beard, Warrenton, so far is the only candidate for the position.Recorder of deedsIncumbent Deborah L. Engemann has submitted her name to keep her position.County treasurerCurrent Treasurer Jeff Hoelscher thus far is running unopposed.Prosecuting attorneyKelly King, who currently serves as the prosecuting attorney, is the sole candidate on the ballot at this time.Collector of revenueIncumbent Julie Schaumberg is unopposed to retain her office.Candidates filing for county treasurer and county collector must also provide a signed affidavit from an authorized surety company indicating that the candidate meets statutory bond requirements.Questions should be directed to the county clerk’s office by calling 636-456-3331.Election filing
