Citizens interested in leading their local communities can begin filing to run for elected positions in December.
Each April, a number of city council, school board and emergency services officials are chosen by voters in local municipal elections. Candidates must file for the election several months ahead of time to be placed on the ballot.
Filing for the April 3, 2018, election is open from Tuesday, Dec. 12, until Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018.
Those interested in running for office should inquire about any filing fees and eligibility requirements with the relevant political district.
These are the positions up for election this April:
Warrenton
• Ward 1 alderman, two-year term. Currently held by Mike Shilharvey.
• Ward 1 alderman, one-year term. Currently held by Greg Costello, who was appointed after the resignation of Karen Casserly.
• Ward 2 alderman, two-year term. Currently held by Scott Schulze.
• Ward 3 alderman, two-year term. Currently held by Bob Delaloye, who was appointed after the resignation of John Miller.
Candidates may file with the city clerk at Warrenton City Hall, 200 W. Booneslick Road.

Wright City
• Mayor, two-year term. Currently held by Dan Rowden, who was appointed after the death of Mayor Dave Heiliger.
• Ward 1 alderman, two-year term. Currently held by John O’Connor.
• Ward 1 alderman, one-year term. Currently held by Kerry Lambright, who was appointed after Dan Rowden became mayor.
• Ward 2 alderman, two-year term. Currently held by Tom Dixon.
Candidates may file at Wright City Hall, 203 Veterans Memorial Parkway.
Ward 1 is located north of Interstate 70, and Ward 2 is south of I-70.
Truesdale
• Mayor, one-year term. Currently held by Chris Watson, who was appointed after the death of Mayor Murray Bruer.
• Two aldermen, two-year term. Currently held by Shalene Blackwood and Mike Thomas, who was appointed after Chris Watson became mayor.
Candidates may file at Truesdale City Hall, 109 Pinckney St.
Marthasville
• East Ward alderman, two-year term. Currently held by Nick Lange.
• West Ward alderman, two-year term. Currently held by Christopher DeVore.
Candidates may file at Marthasville City Hall, 402 E. Main St.

Innsbrook
• Two seats on the board of trustees, two-year term. Currently held by Tom Stevener and Ted Sator.
Candidates may file at the Innsbrook Village Hall, 1835 Highway F.
Foristell
• Ward 1 alderman, two-year term. Currently held by Mark Meyerhoff.
• Ward 2 alderman, two-year term. Currently held by John Pickering.
• Ward 2 alderman, one-year term. Currently vacant after the resignation of Shari Dixon.
Candidates may file at Foristell City Hall, 121 Mulberry St.
Ward One is north of the Norfolk and Southern Railroad. Ward Two is south of the Norfolk and Southern Railroad.
Warrenton Fire
Protection District
The Warrenton FPD Board of Directors does not have any seats up for election in 2018. Directors serve six-year terms.
Wright City Fire
Protection District
• Two seats on the board of directors, six-year term. Currently held by Rudy Jovanovic and Mike Schriener.
• One additional seat on the board of directors, four-year term. Currently held by Mike Gantner.
Marthasville Fire
Protection District
The Marthasville FPD Board of Directors does not have any seats up for election in 2018.
Warren County
Ambulance District
• Subdistrict 2 director, three-year term. Currently held by Bill Ehlenbeck.
• Subdistrict 5 director, three-year term. Currently held by Bob Linke.

Marthasville Community Ambulance District
• Subdistrict 2 director, three-year term. Currently held by Lynne Schroeder.
• Subdistrict 5 director, three-year term. Currently held by Arlie Berg.
Candidates may file at the Warren County Clerk’s office.
Warren County
Emergency Services (911)
• Northern district director, four-year term. Currently held by Jeanne Deutch.
• Southern district director, four-year term. Currently held by Jonathan Struckhoff.
• At-large director, four-year term. Currently held by Ralph Hellebusch.
Candidates may file at the Warren County Communications office, 209 Highway U, Warrenton.
Warren County R-III School Board
• Two board of education seats, three-year term. Currently held by John Clinger and Dr. Chad Smith.
Candidates may file at the superintendent’s office, 385 W. Veterans Memorial Parkway, Warrenton.
Wright City R-II
School Board
• Two board of education seats, three-year term. Currently held by David Mikus and Erin Williams.
Candidates may file at the school district’s central office, 90 Bell Road, Wright City.
Washington School
District Board
• Two board of education seats, three-year term. Currently held by Kevin Blackburn and John Freitag.
Candidates may file at the district administration building, 220 Locust St., Washington.
Warren County
No county administration seats are up for election in 2018. County elected officials serve four-year terms.
