Filing Continues for State, County Offices

All current county officeholders up for re-election this year are seeking to retain their seats.  Coroner Roger Mauzy and Surveyor Bob Lewis were the latest to file in the past week.  The filing period for county and state offices continues through Tuesday, March 27. The other incumbents who have filed so far are Northern District Commissioner Dan Hampson, Southern District Commissioner Hubie Kluesner, Sheriff Kevin Harrison, Assessor Wendy Nordwald, and Public Administrator Jeff Hoelscher. All are Republicans.  The primary election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 7, with the general election set for Tuesday, Nov. 6.  One new candidate did file for the new 63rd District House seat in the past week. David Knisley, of Wentzville, will oppose Bill Stinson, of Wright City, in the Democratic primary. Bryan Spencer, of Wentzville, is the only Republican candidate to file for the position so far.  The 63rd District covers Wright City, nearly all of Innsbrook and northwestern St. Charles County.  State Rep. Bart Korman, a Republican from High Hill, is the only candidate to file for the 42nd District House seat. The new district, slightly altered from the current 99th District that Korman currently represents, encompasses all of Montgomery County, a large portion of Warren County and extends into southwestern St. Charles County.  Warren County Associate Judge Wes Dalton, a Republican, so far is the lone candidate to file for 12th Judicial Circuit judge. The circuit covers Warren, Montgomery and Audrain counties.
