A Warren County man deliberately set a detached garage on fire while arguing with his wife, according to an investigation conducted by the state fire marshal’s office. The blaze was reported around 2:59 p.m. Jan. 9 at a home in the 18000 block of Quail Run Lane, located off Highway CC between Warrenton and Marthasville. A motorcycle and other items stored in the garage were destroyed, officials said.Christopher M. Lynn, 39, was charged last week with first-degree arson. A warrant was issued March 30 for his arrest. His bond has been set at $25,000.Initially, Lynn told the investigator he was alone inside the garage and lit a cigarette while kneeling by his motorcycle. The carpet caught fire as a lighter remained on as he placed it down. However, as the investigation unfolded, two family members told the investigator that Lynn intentionally set the fire while all three were inside the garage. They said the carpet by the motorcycle was soaked in fuel and Lynn allegedly applied the flame from the lighter to it, according to the probable cause statement. The investigator said the burn patterns and evidence observed in the garage were consistent with the witnesses’ statements. Lynn later admitted in verbal and written statements that he set the fire during an argument, the probable cause statement shows.Arson
