The Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce will host the pinnacle event of its yearlong 90th anniversary celebration — the “Festival of Fun.” The event will be held this Saturday and Sunday, June 1-2, at the Warren County Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 1, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 2. Additionally, there will be a 5K run/walk downtown to kick off the event. “This is going to be rain-or-shine event,” said Jan Olearnick, Chamber executive director. “There’s going to be so much going on, so people can have fun while they’re getting wet,” she quipped. “Everybody is moving forward in terms of planning and organizing this weekend’s activities,” Olearnick said. “We’re being flexible. Events and activities might get shifted around in terms of placement, but the Festival will still be going on. “Most everything will be under roofs or shelter, but people should bring their umbrellas,” Olearnick asserted. Above all, she urges people to attend and enjoy themselves.“It will be fun,” Olearnick said. “If it rains, it will just add to the charm of the event. And the food will be outstanding.” Concessions offerings will include: Pulled pork subs, roast beef subs, turkey croissants, chicken salad croissants, chicken gyros, mozzarella sticks, toasted ravioli, onion rings; Hot wings, dill pickles, iced tea, lemonade, assorted cupcakes, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, french fries, nachos; Chips, kettle corn, popcorn, fresh pork rinds, cold dill pickle on a stick, Giant Pixie Stix, funnel cakes, fried Oreos, water and soda. There will be no admission charge.In addition to previously announced activities and events, a late addition to the schedule for Saturday, June 1, is that Mercy Children’s Hospital will offer bike helmets to children, as well as professional fittings.
