All occupants of residential fire Sunday afternoon are safe following the quick work of several area departments.
According to a recent release, the Warren County Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 2:25 p.m. March 22, that reported smoke inside a Marthasville residence. The release stated that a child inside the home awoke to the presence of smoke and alerted her parents. The call was initially responded to by Marthasville Fire, Warrenton Fire Protection District and New Melle Fire Protection District. Marthasville Fire was also supported by the Marthasville Community Ambulance District and the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
Upon arrival of the first fire engine, firefighters observed smoke-stained glass on the second floor, according to the release. Crews made entry, while a second fire engine established water supply. Firefighters encountered dense smoke inside the residence with the heaviest fire located on the second floor, where it was quickly extinguished.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
