With less than a month until the Warren County Fair, plans are set for a week of entertainment.The Fair will kick off Sunday, July 2, with the annual parade. Events at the fairgrounds in Warrenton will run from Tuesday, July 4, through Saturday, July 8.This year’s theme is “Some Gave All: A Tribute to Veterans.”Fair Association President Paul Owenby said the theme will highlight an effort to build a memorial wall honoring Warren County veterans.“It’s a good cause,” Owenby said.Parade lineup will begin at 2 p.m., with the parade itself beginning at 4 p.m. The parade will begin on Main Street in Warrenton, traveling east on Highway M and then south to Warrenton High School.Parade participation varies from year to year, Owenby said, but any interested groups can join in with no preregistration required.Featured entertainment at the fairgrounds opens with the Mud Run Tuesday afternoon. The annual queen pageant is Tuesday evening, followed by a performance from local musician Alex Day.Fourth of July fireworks will cap opening night after sunset.Humorist Chad Prather will be the main stage entertainment Wednesday.Barrel racing, a livestock auction and a garden tractor pull are scheduled for Thursday. A truck pull and the Glory Days Rodeo will both be held Friday evening.The annual baby show will take place Saturday morning. A greased pig scramble and demolition derby will end the Fair Saturday evening.Season passes to the Fair can be purchased for $40 and are available at local banks or from any Fair queen contestant.Carnival rides are included in gate admission prices.The fees for July 4-5 are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 7 to 12. The fees increase to $15 for adults and $10 for children July 6-8. Children age 6 and younger get in for free every day.Fair organizers are still accepting commercial exhibitors.
